vanx
Not sold by Amazon though, which always makes me wary when buying electronics.
dipsylalapo Supervisor Posted September 19, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted September 19, 2014 They seem to sell a lot of other electronics on Amazon and they have decent feedback,
game_over
as long as the feedback is there i don't see it as a worry, just like buying electronics from anywhere.
Shadrack
Not sold by Amazon though, which always makes me wary when buying electronics. At least in the states, Amazon handles the returns of their market place folks. So if he has problems, he should be able to deal directly with Amazon. Anyway, which Apple TV version? The latest one? It is hard to say if Apple will ever update this particular AppleTV Device, or go for a full-on television set. I hope they stick with the accessory, because I like AppleTV but I'm not buying an Apple television set. The Apple TV 3 has been out for 2.5 years (http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#Other).%C2'> If they decide to update it in October I suspect the main feature will be Siri. I doubt they will offer "4k" or anything like that.
Belazor
Mmmm this is properly tempting. I don't really watch any of my downloaded TV shows just now as I've temporarily stationed my desktop somewhere else, and I only have this (comparatively) tiny 15.4" MacBook screen to view it on. I do, however, have a 50" TV that I could watch the content on, and the AirPlay mirroring of specific apps as detailed here: http://www.appletvhacks.net/2014/05/07/how-to-get-xbmc-on-hdtv-via-apple-tv-3-tutorial/ is interesting to me. That being said, I'm not sure if it's worth it considering, as Shad says, the thing is (in technology terms) older than dirt right now. I'd feel gutted if I bought one and a new one was out next month.
XgD
I picked up a cheap ATV off Amazon a while back. It was a US model that the seller had added a UK plug to (outside the shrink-wrapped US box, but inside a larger box). It works absolutely fine. I wouldn't worry about it being cheap.
