BlackBerry Leap now available from Vodafone UK

The BlackBerry Leap smartphone was announced back at MWC 2015 at the end of February, and Vodafone has become the first company to sell the new handset in the UK. The BlackBerry Leap is available 'free' on pay-monthly contracts from £22 per month (including VAT) while for those who would prefer to buy it outright, BlackBerry UK has listed the handset for £199.99 SIM free and unlocked.

The Vodafone contract comes with 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB data each month on a 24 month plan. Like other Vodafone 4G plans, you get three months' unlimited data through Data Test Drive, a Fixed Price promise which guarantees the cost of your plan won't rise mid-contract, and a guaranteed courtesy phone if your phone is being repaired.

However, this particular contract doesn't come with a choice of entertainment pack or free calls in Europe so the Red Value 4GB Bundle plan offers better inclusive benefits for those who need them. This plan costs £35 per month and gives you unlimited minutes and texts with 4GB data each month along with inclusive calls to the UK from selected European countries and the choice of either Now TV, Spotify Premium or Sky Sports Mobile TV for six months.

The BlackBerry Leap has a 5-inch 720p HD display, and runs a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Plus processor with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and a microSD card expansion slot.

On the back is an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and Full HD video recording and the front 2MP snapper can capture 720p videos. The device also offers LTE, GPS, FM Radio, Bluetooth v4.1 and WiFi 802.11n and runs on BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 which supports native Android applications and the Google Play store.
