Microsoft is hosting a small conference this week to help key partners and developers get up to speed on Spartan and how to best work with the new browser. While Microsoft has been open about the event and even revealed that IE will no longer be updated, a few slides from the presentation have been posted on Twitter.

The slide you see at the top of this post comes from the event and shows what the team is currently working on under the hood. Of course, most will be hoping to hear about new front end features but this slide is targeted at back end developers.

Still, for those of you who want to know what standards are currently being worked on for when the browser is released this summer, this slide will give you good insight about where the team is currently headed.

Spartan is much more than a new browser for Microsoft; it is a fresh start for their fight to maintain market share lead in the browser segment. If they release a buggy build of Spartan, there is a possibility that the browser will immediately be burdened by negative perceptions before it even hits market - and Microsoft cannot afford for this to happen. With that being said, if you want to get a closer look at the browser, you can check out our hands on here.
