Office for Android gets updated to version 16.0.7531.1011, adds maps in Excel and more

Microsoft today updated its Office suite of apps on Android, which include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to version 16.0.7531.1011. The new features are similar to the ones that Insiders received two weeks ago in 16.0.7531.1002.

Here's what's new (via On MSFT):

Word

  • Accessibility built right in: Improved support for using TalkBack, your keyboard, and other assistive technologies.
  • Use Box, Egnyte, or 腾讯微云 to store and access your Office files.
  • Get a notification when there’s activity in your shared document.

Excel

  • Accessibility built right in: Improved support for using TalkBack, your keyboard, and other assistive technologies
  • Maps: The new Maps chart type transforms geographic data into professional looking maps
  • Use Box, Egnyte, or 腾讯微云 to store and access your Office files
  • Open files that contain ActiveX controls, or web or text queries
  • Get a notification when there’s activity in your shared workbooks

PowerPoint

  • Accessibility built right in: Improved support for using TalkBack, your keyboard, and other assistive technologies.
  • Use Box, Egnyte, or 腾讯微云 to store and access your Office files.
  • Get a notification when there’s activity in your shared presentation.

Maps in Excel is a major feature that Microsoft announced at its Ignite 2016 conference, among other things that are meant to add "intelligence" to Office. Next time you create a graph with a dataset that's geographically-based, Excel will make a two-dimensional graph for you instead.

This is the November update, as the suite of apps does tend to get updated monthly, with Insiders receiving new features in the beginning of the month and the general public getting them a couple weeks later. You can install or update your Office apps at the following links:
