Stardock broadens partnership with AMD, Star Control: Origins to debut at PAX West

News about Stardock Entertainment's upcoming game, Star Control: Origins, has been ratcheting up a bit lately, including a brand new trailer shown off at gamescom and the announcement that Adam Baldwin joined the ranks of the title's voice cast, voicing a mercenary commander from the Menkmack race. Now, the company has shared more news in the lead up to PAX West which will kick off on August 31.

In its news post, Stardock has announced that it will be extending its technology and gaming partnership with AMD. In terms of specifics, the studio said that it will:

"... optimize the upcoming Star Control: Origins for AMD technologies including AMD Ryzen processors and Radeon FreeSync 2 technology, as well as update the game post-launch with support for the Vulkan Graphics API."

AMD will also be hosting the first public debut of the full game in its booth at PAX West. Furthermore, the title will be offered as one of the three games included for free with purchases of AMD Radeon, Vega, RX 580, or RX 570 GPUs as part of the manufacturer's "Raise the Game" video card promotion. With respect to the announcement, Ritche Corpus, Head of Worldwide Content at AMD said:

"Delivering the latest advanced technology to gamers by working with innovative partners has been and continues to be critical to AMD’s success. Stardock has proven time and time again that pushing the gaming envelope is part of their DNA, and we’re thrilled to continue our relationship with Star Control: Origins, their biggest and best game yet."

Star Control: Origins is slated for release on September 20, 2018, on PC but can be pre-ordered on Steam and GOG for $34.99 or at the special pre-order price of $31.49 via the Stardock store.
