As part of its pre-CES announcements, HP has announced a pair of new Chromebooks: the Chromebook 11 G6 Education Edition and Chromebook 14 G5.
The Chromebook 11 G6 Education Edition is "classroom-ready", as it's been ruggedized with co-molded rubber contact points. It's been built to pass MIL-STD 810G tests, so students can drop it, and it's not likely to break. With all of that, it still comes in at under 19mm thin, and weighs in at 2.8 pounds.
The device is powered by seventh-generation Intel Celeron N3350 and N3450 chips, and comes with up to 8GB RAM and 64GB of storage. It even uses USB Type-C for charging, so you can use the same cable as the rest of the laptops in the class.
Then there's the Chromebook 14 G5, a larger version of the device that uses the same Celeron chips. It also comes with up to 8GB RAM and 64GB storage, and can withstand MIL-STD 810G testing. This one comes in at 18.5mm thin, and has a FHD screen (the Chromebook 11 is HD).
HP said that both the Chromebook 11 G6 Education Edition and Chromebook 14 G5 will be available in February.
