Microsoft brings its partners under one roof

US software giant Microsoft Corp has unveiled a new worldwide partner programme that would provide it with a single approach to working with all its various types of partners.

The Microsoft Partner Programme covers the company's independent software vendors, system integrators, system builders, consulting services providers, value-added resellers, as well as those who provide value-added, training and support services.

The programme represents Microsoft's "new concept" in partner relationships, said John Ball, director of Microsoft Asia Pacific and Greater China's small and mid-market solutions and partners.

"We see the new partner programme as an evolutionary transition, from working with partners in different ways towards a single, consistent approach," he told reporters at a press briefing here.

The new programme combines and enhances the features of most of Microsoft's current partner programmes into a single programme. This would reduce complexity and increase consistency for all its different types of solutions partners, the company said.
