Ultra-portable computers seem to be all the rage these days, and as Unwired View is reporting, Finland-based cellphone manufacturer Nokia is expanding their share in the market.
The device that Nokia is producing is based on ARM's multi-core Sparrow processor, and will be running Linux to support its unique widget-based interface. It's unclear on what exactly this looks like, but apparently each running application gets its own semi-transparent widget to put its content in, and also multiple running applications can be stored, "for months."
As for the hardware itself, the prototype features diamond shaped keys, elevated slightly, and its display can tilt in several different ways for different functions. It sounds quite interesting, and it will be exciting to see what functionality Nokia brings with the device. Unwired View provided the following mock-up of the device:
