Facebook’s annual F8 developer conference kicks off on Wednesday but the company’s own app has already spilled some of the biggest secrets that were set to be unveiled.
Thanks to a premature notification sent from the F8 app, we already know Facebook’s talking points for the conference and it looks like the company has some big changes planned. First up, Parse, the company’s app-building division, will be focusing on the Internet of Things, which makes us think Facebook will soon be integrating with your washing machine.
Secondly, it looks like Facebook wants to make some big changes to Messenger with an announcement titled “Messenger as a Platform”. The chat and messaging service will likely be opened up to third parties while a VOIP service may show up as well, with Facebook offering a complete communications package this way.
Other announcements from the company will likely focus on Oculus Rift, for which the company has set aside a special keynote, its advertising platform, and Facebook’s new strategy of hosting news content directly instead of directing users to external sites.
Oh and a “Teleportation Station” will also be available for those attending F8. Whether the company is redefining the laws of physics or that’s just their way of saying “lounge” remains to be seen as the event kicks off in a matter of hours.
