Last week Samsung announced plans to roll out Android 9.0 Pie updates to its Galaxy M family of smartphones. The update was slated for release on June 3, but apparently, some Galaxy M30 owners have already started to receive the Pie update making it one week early. Along with Android 9, Samsung also pushed out its One UI interface, enabling Galaxy M30 users to experience the minimalistic new user interface. And perhaps, the introduction of One UI might improve performance on the devices as expected.
The recent updates were received by Galaxy M30 owners in India and require 1144.25MB of storage space. Along with Android 9.0 Pie and Samsung's One UI, users also received the latest Android security patch (May 2019). This new version of the OS is M305FDDU1BSEA/M305FODM1BSEA/M305FDDU1BSE6 in the update log. Although Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 have yet to receive the same updates, it should happen sooner rather than later.
Samsung launched the mid-range Galaxy M10 and M20 models in India earlier this year in January. The smartphones' were designed for millennials and featured Samsung's Infinity-V displays. All models in the M series run Android 8.0 Oreo out the box rather than Android 9.0 Pie, including the Galaxy M30 which was released last.
Initially, Samsung hinted that the Pie release and UI updates would be pushed in August 2019, so the June 3 release was already ahead of expectations.
