Samsung refreshes its Odyssey Windows Mixed Reality headset for 2018

It was a little over a year ago when Samsung announced its Odyssey Windows Mixed Reality headset. Now the firm has updated its headset for 2018 with minor improvements to deliver the Odyssey+.

The fewer distractions you face when you are using a headset to become immersed in a digital world, the better. Samsung still makes use of its dual 3.5-inch AMOLED displays that offers a resolution of 1,440 x 1,600 per eye but it has improved its Windows Mixed Reality headset with its exclusive technology called Anti-Screen Door Effect (Anti-SDE) Display. This will reduce the number of fine lines between pixels that can sometimes be seen when using the headset.

The Odyssey+ also provides excellent comfort weighing in at 590 grams and a wider eye box that measures in at 146mm. This wide eye box will provide a better shape to fit more comfortably on your face. Along with the improved box, the Odyssey+ features breathable face padding that will keep the lenses clear and free of any kind of haze.

If you want to purchase it, the Samsung HMD Odyssey+ is now available from the Samsung website in the United States and also the Microsoft Store, where it is priced at $499.99. Oddly, if you were looking for the older model, you can also purchase that one from Samsung for $499.99.
