Stardock announced the Earth Rising expansion for Star Control: Origins late last year, which would arrive in four parts. The first of which, Aftermath, landed in December, and now, its finally time for the second component, Return of the Lexites, that is now available on PC.
As evident by the DLC's name, it heralds the return of Lexites, a highly advanced hybrid race of humans and AI that had mysteriously left Earth decades ago, who are trying to "stop Earth’s expansion into the galaxy."
The studio says Return of the Lexites touches on the reasoning behind the Lexites' departure, delivering a series of new missions for players to take part in. This chapter of Earth Rising also brings in new ships and weaponry from the Lexites' arsenal.
Return of the Lexites is now available as part of the Earth Rising expansion season pass, that comes with a $29.99 price tag on Steam, GOG, and Stardock stores. The third chapter of this season pass, Syndicate, is slated for this summer, which is said introduce more content than the first and second parts combined.
