Dell launches "world's thinnest" 2-in-1 Latitude 7285 tablet with wireless charging support

Back at CES 2017, Dell announced a new Windows 10 2-in-1 tablet, the Latitude 7285, claiming it to be "the world's most versatile 2-in-1". The firm has now launched the tablet with the price starting at $1,199.

Dell promised quite a few things with this device, out of which an interesting one is "the ultimate 'no wires' experience", with WiTricity’s magnetic resonance wireless charging capability. This is achieved through a wireless charging keyboard, which is available through an additional purchase. Placing the tablet, attached to this keyboard, on the wireless charging mat will start putting juice in its battery.

The company has also promoted this device as "the world’s thinnest and lightest Windows-based commercial 2-in-1". The tablet is just 0.28 inches thick, making it 0.05 inches thinner than the Surface Pro. It weighs only 1.5 pounds (tablet only).

Powered by Intel's 7th generation (Kaby Lake) Y-series processors, the device offers up to 16GB of LPDDR3-1866 RAM and up to 512GB SSD. It features a 12.3-inch Sharp IGZO 3K display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, Intel HD Graphics 615 GPU and a 34WHr battery. It also supports Dell Active Pen.

The tablet offers an 8MP rear camera and a 720p front-facing camera along with an IR camera with Windows Hello support. Moreover, it has 2 USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 support but has no USB Type-A port.

The additional accessories for this device are also available now for purchase:

  • Productivity Keyboard - $249.99
  • Wireless Charging Keyboard - $379.99
  • Wireless Charging Mat - $199.99
  • Wireless Charging Keyboard and Charging Mat Bundle - $549.99
