Google's call screening capability was one of the best features that debuted exclusively on the Pixel family of smartphones late last year along with Duplex. After several months of limited availability, the feature is now available on Motorola's Moto G7 and One line of devices.
The Moto G7, which was announced in February, and the Motorola One are notably the first non-Pixel devices to receive call screening. The feature works side-by-side with Duplex to let Google Assistant answer or reject calls from telemarketers, for example. Google's call screening works in a straightforward way; you just tap the "call screen" option when you receive an unknown call and Duplex will respond to the caller with pre-defined answers. It then provides either a live or recorded transcript of the conversation on the screen.
The feature comes at the right time when robocalls continue to increase in number, with AT&T and Comcast having recently announced an anti-robocalling fraud system last month in addition to Verizon's own measure.
Additionally, the Moto G7 series and One handsets are starting to receive Google's Digital Wellbeing feature. Introduced at Google's I/O conference last year, Digital Wellbeing is designed to show users the amount of time they spend on their mobile devices and help them regulate their screen time. In addition to the call screening and Digital Wellbeing, Motorola's devices also feature its in-house Moto Experiences service which helps users control their mobile habits.
