Intel is reportedly working on another Arc GPU. According to GitLab, the pixel pipeline optimizations for Intel GPUs are being made while the same page also confirms the existence of a new DG2-448 GPU from Intel.
For starters, Intel Arc is the official brand for the Xe HPG graphics, which is codenamed DG2. According to Intel, the first Arc products will come to both desktops and notebooks in Q1 2022.
Also known as Alchemist, the new SKU lineup is under testing as part of a Mesa OpenGL and Vulkan driver update. Intel developer Franciso Jerez claims, in the patch notes, that the driver update improves the performance of DG2 graphic solutions when dealing with non trivial workloads.
He also gives out an example that the aforementioned SKU gives a performance improvement between 20-40%, although not mentioning what the performance is compared with. The data also features various games used for testing like Shadow of Mordor, Dota 2, Counter Strike: Global Offensive and more.
Intel has not officially confirmed this SKU as part of its Arc GPU lineup. Although the DG2 sits perfectly between the flagship DG2-512 and the midrange DG2-384 configurations. Real world performance still remains a mystery with the whole Intel Arc lineup, so we will have to wait and see what Team Blue has got up their sleeves early next year.
