Microsoft today announced a new incentive to get organizations to switch over to OneDrive for Business. The company will now offer the service for free, for the remainder of the business's contract with Box, Dropbox, or Google.
Naturally, there are some qualifications. The organization needs to commit at least 500 users, and they can't currently be a OneDrive for Business or Office 365 customer. The offer starts today and ends on June 30.
Microsoft says that those taking advantage of this offer can use FastTrack for a "smooth transition" to OneDrive for Business or Office 365. You can find out more about FastTrack here.
"The FastTrack team helped us with best practices, documentation, and a pre-migration checklist. Given the number of people we wanted to migrate, it made sense to collaborate with them as much as we possibly could," said Justin Litherland, Vice President, IT Stores of Lowe’s Companies, Inc.
Along with Lowe's, Accenture is another company that Microsoft continually promotes as an adopter of its cloud services, using OneDrive for over 400,000 employees. In fact, Microsoft says that over 350,000 organizations are using OneDrive, and that number is continuing to grow.
Indeed, Microsoft has been pushing its cloud services pretty hard. Most recently, the company added a feature called Files Restore to OneDrive for Business, which is announced in September at Ignite. It allows users to restore their OneDrive, or specific files, to a certain date, protecting against things like ransomware attacks.
