Over 80 4700S systems are going to be available, confirms AMD

Rumors of the enigmatic AMD 4700S processor part have been making the rounds for several months since last year and its existence was finally confirmed when the company itself, without any prior announcement, put up an official page for the product last month (spotted by Twitter user @harukaze5719).

AMD also confirmed today to Tom's Hardware that over 80 new designs based on the 4700S desktop kit will be available for purchase via different system integrators and OEMs. In fact, some of them are already being sold in the Asian market with prices of the systems ranging from ~$320 to ~$700.

Here's what an AMD representative has said:

AMD 4700S Desktop Kit is its own unique solution, designed to address the desire for robust, high-core count performance in the mainstream market – ideal for multi-tasking, productivity, and light 3D workflows.

We expect to see over 80 designs come to market from our SI [System Integrator] partners beginning on June 24th. Prices of these systems will be announced by our SI partners in due course.

The desktop kit consists of the 4700S which is an 8-core Zen 2-based processor with a cooler on top that appears to be different from the Wraith models which come paired with AMD's consumer Ryzen chips. The memory is on-chip and it packs up to 16GB GDDR6 which explains the strange motherboard design devoid of RAM slots. The 4700S chip is reportedly based on defective PS5 SoCs leading to this strange configuration. Hence, there are no display outputs on the kit and a dedicated graphics card is necessary.
