Press renders of Nokia Lumia Icon leak as launch date gets closer

After a seemingly endless stream of leaks in recent months, it seems there’s not much left to say about Nokia’s Lumia Icon. The handset – known previously as the Lumia 929, and destined exclusively for Verizon Wireless in the US – has been extensively detailed, albeit in a slow but steady trickle of information, and the only big questions that remain unanswered are those of price and availability.

While pricing remains uncertain for now, it seems that the launch of the Icon is close. Today, full press renders of the white version of the device were leaked on Twitter by @WinDroidGuy, hinting at an imminent launch.

Intriguingly, seasoned leaker @evleaks also posted a tantalising tweet today, which included an image of a Verizon user guide for the Lumia Icon, suggesting that the device will be released on either February 5 or March 5:

@WinDroidGuy replied to that tweet, revealing that Verizon had originally planned to launch the Icon this week, which lines up with a rumour that we reported last month:

While the reasons for Verizon’s decision to delay the launch are unclear, it does seem likely that the Lumia Icon will finally be announced very soon. The device is expected to feature a quad-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage, as well as a 5-inch 1080p display up-front, and a 20MP PureView camera on the back.
