Razer introduces the Kraken V3 X headphones with 40mm Triforce drivers

Razer has introduced the latest in its Kraken family of headphones, the Kraken V3 X. The headset shares some similarities with the Kraken X from 2019, but includes some notable upgrades, starting with the audio drivers.

With the Kraken V3 X, Razer has brought its TriForce drivers to the Kraken lineup, after they debuted in the Blackshark V2 Pro last year. These are smaller, though, at 40mm instead of 50mm, but they still offer 7.1 Surround Sound out of the box, and like other Razer headsets, you can upgrade to THX Spatial Audio, with Razer offering a 50% discount on the app for Kraken V3 X owners.

It also has a bendable HyperClear cardioid mic, which should be able to pick up your voice instead of the noise around you. There are also quick controls on the right earcup, including a microphone mute button and built-in volume control.

Another upgrade - if you consider it that - is that the Kraken V3 X supports Razer's Chroma RGB lighting, with the Razer logo on the earcups lighting up in any of 16.8 million colors, making them the cheapest Razer headphones with RGB lighting. To support that feature, the headset connects via USB Type-A instead of a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Razer also touts upgraded comfort with a hybrid fabric and memory foam ear cushions. The headset weighs in at 285 grams, which is somewhere between the 250 grams of the Kraken X and the 320 grams of the regular Kraken.

The Razer Kraken V3 X is now available from Razer, costing $69.99 or €79.99.
