LG's popular line of smartphones ran into some issues in 2016 where an internal problem forced the devices to constantly try to reboot themselves. The bootloop trouble prompted a class-action suit in March of 2017 covering the G4 and V10, with the G5, V20, and Nexus 5X being added in April. Apparently, LG is ready to fall on its sword and has offered a settlement.
According to a report from Android Police, LG has offered claimants $425 in cash or a $700 credit toward a new LG phone. The deal was supposedly revealed through a settlement website set up the Girard Gibbs law firm, but all information has disappeared from the site.
If you are part of the suit, you will supposedly be contacted shortly about which option you may want to take. The $425 offer will cover most of the older model LG phones with some cash left over, while the credit would be enough to cover a brand new V30 and a substantial portion of a V30+.
Even though the suit is close to settlement, those affected by the bootloop issue can apparently still join the class action by filling out a proof of claim form and submitting it before February 12. You will not need to ship back your old phone.
