Sapphire GPRO X080 mining GPU already costs 38% less, miners probably didn't care

Ever since crypto-miners started using graphics cards for mining, AMD and NVIDIA have often tried to lure them away from gaming GPUs by creating dedicated mining cards. These typically are more or less the same as gaming cards but lack display outputs. However, a lot of times these GPUs fail to impress miners as the lack of display outputs also means these dedicated mining cards cannot be sold off to gamers once the mining profitability falls.

Such is probably also the case for the recently-launched Sapphire GPRO X080, which was spotted by the Spanish site El Chapuzas Informatico.

As per the price history data on price-tracking portal Geizhals, the Sapphire GPRO X080 is down by 38% as it is currently sitting at around €765, whereas the launch price for this GPU was apparently around €1240.

The reason for the drop is probably the low resale value but even the price for the card was pretty high earlier considering the GPRO X080 is a cut-down Navi 22 chip with 36 CUs or 2,304 stream processors paired with 10GB VRAM. Such an SKU does not exist in the gaming market as the GPRO X080 falls between the 32CU Radeon RX 6600 XT and the 40CU Radeon RX 6700 XT.

The full specifications of the GPRO X080 are given below including estimated mining hash rates.

Sapphire also launched another mining card called the GPRO X060 and the specs are given in the image below.

Interestingly, this one apparently features HDMI and DisplayPort outputs which means it is likely a repurposed Radeon RX 6600.
