It seems like only yesterday when Samsung announced the Galaxy Note5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+. It was the first time the company introduced a larger sibling of its Galaxy S line and would pave the way for similar devices in the future. Although both handsets are still quite capable, eventually, things need to start winding down, and it looks like both of them have reached that point.
According to SamMobile, Samsung has confirmed that monthly security updates for the Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ are now discontinued. The concern was first raised when both handsets were missing from the list of supported devices following the September update rollout. So, unfortunately, going forward, users will not be protected when it comes to smaller security flaws that are found in the Android OS.
If you own these devices and are looking for a way out, you might want to consider upgrading to Samsung's other smartphones that still offer support. Unfortunately, the firm is not offering sweet trade-in deals anymore, only giving up to $300 when it comes to credit.
