Samsung is no stranger to creating foldable phones. Now, they may very well be rolling some of that screen bending talent to the smartwatch domain with a future iteration of a Samsung Galaxy Watch.
A patent filed back in June suggests that this may be a possibility after all. Filed with the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO), the patent spotted by Dutch blog LetsGoDigital contains details of a Galaxy Watch display that users will be able to pull out in order to create more screen space.
In addition to being able to rotation the display in either the horizontal or vertical direction and expand the display, the patent also details a camera being embedded into the device itself.
In order to expand the display, there are several gears and a rotating shaft which allow for the reduction and enlargement of the display. In order to rotate the display, the user would have to pull the crown out and turn it.
There are numerous sensors described in the patent as well which may be able to track heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation levels, in addition to traditional smartwatch features such as a pedometer and calorie counter.
Interestingly, the 113 page patent document even talks about compatibility with a stylus pen, akin to the S pen, for this concept patented Samsung Galaxy Watch.
