Call of Duty: Vanguard is the next first-person shooter in the popular franchise and it's launching on November 5, 2021. Today, the team at Sledgehammer Games gave us an in-depth look at the multiplayer portions. We learned when the open beta takes place and what to expect in terms of maps and Operators — specialist soldiers with unique voices and backstories.

According to Xbox Wire, you'll have to pre-order Call of Duty: Vanguard to receive early access to the open beta that starts on September 16. Then, from September 18 to September 20, the game will feature an open beta that allows anyone to participate.

Unlike the bare-bones alpha test, the beta focuses on core multiplayer modes, the tournament-like Champion Hill mode, and the new Patrol offering. The beta already sounds much more robust than the alpha, and it may be well-received this time around.

As alluded to earlier, there are twelve Operators in the game, and six of them will be playable in the beta. They offer unique skills and personalities, so be sure to experiment. The game also features twenty maps at launch, so it seems like it'll be quite a substantial experience by the time November 5 rolls up.

Call of Duty: Warzone — the free-to-play battle royale experience — is also getting some attention. During the livestream, developer Raven Software talked about how the standalone experience was getting a new Pacific map. This map focuses on jungles, caves, and some settlements. There's also going to be a new anti-cheat system in place by the time the update hits.

You can pre-order Call of Duty: Vanguard right now on the Microsoft Store or the platform of your choice, starting at $59.99. When pre-ordering, there are a number of editions to choose from that give you access to post-launch content and much more.
