Google hasn't been hyping up its Bard chatbot AI service for a while now. However, the company continues to develop and update Bard with new improvements and features. This week, it posted word of two small but still interesting changes to the chatbot.
In a blog post, Google stated that Bard users who access its Workplace extension can now use the chatbot to summarize more emails. The patch notes stated:
We are taking a small step to improve quality and make the Workspace Extension more useful by summarizing more of your emails. Sometimes you just need an update, so we’re improving the way Bard can understand when you need the latest emails.
Google previously stated that a user's Workspace data will not be used to train Bard’s large language model. The Workspace Extention can also be disabled.
The other small addition to Bard relates to sharing your conversations with the chatbot with real people. In this case, if your shared chat includes an uploaded image, that image will now be included when you send it to others. Google stated:
Adding an image to your prompt can take your creativity to new heights. Now that others can see the image you used in your prompt, they will be able to better appreciate your creative process and continue the conversation with Bard in their own way.
Last month, Google announced that website administrators now have a way to either allow Bard to access their web content or to let the company know the content should not be used to train the chatbot.
Meanwhile, we are still waiting for a number of promised features from Microsoft's Bing Chat to be generally released. That includes its third-party plugin support that was announced months ago at Build 2023, along with a plug-in that would enable a "No Search".
