OnePlus 3 gets new Android 7.0 Nougat preview

It's been two weeks since OnePlus released its last OxygenOS preview based on Android 7.0. A new beta is now available - but there's still no sign of Nougat for the company's latest flagship, the OnePlus 3T.

As with the earlier previews, the new OxygenOS Open Beta 10 release is exclusively available for the OnePlus 3. Improvements in the new build include:

  • Added Data Saver
  • Fixed Lock Screen clock bug in Portrait Mode
  • Fixed issue of reverting to Default Theme after reboot
  • Optimized fingerprint unlocking speed
  • Optimized the quality of Expanded Screenshot
  • Optimized WiFi performance
  • Optimized system performance and battery consumption

You can find details on how to download and install the new beta here on the OnePlus site. However, be aware that if you join the Open Beta program, you'll receive future beta updates over-the-air, but if you want to switch to stable official releases later, you'll have to wipe your phone first.

Unfortunately, with just three days until the new year, it's now looking increasingly unlikely that OnePlus will fulfill its promise to release the final Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade to the 3 and 3T before 2017.

It wouldn't be the first time that the company has failed to deliver an update on time. In November 2015, it committed to upgrading the OnePlus 2 to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the first quarter of 2016, but it didn't begin rolling out that update until June.
