Patreon debuts Lens, giving creators a new way to engage its audience

YouTube is a huge platform that offers users the ability to enjoy a wide variety of content. The service allows millions of creators to reach a wide audience, giving them tools to produce videos, while also potentially making a living from it. Most YouTubers will probably tell you that the ad revenue gained from monetized videos is not a steady stream of income and having alternate sources can be extremely helpful. That is where a service like Patreon comes in, offering creators a way to receive donations and provide interested users with a more intimate experience.

Patreon has now revealed a new feature for its mobile app called Lens, that will allow creators to capture short clips and share the content directly with supporters. This will undoubtedly open a new avenue for creators, allowing them to better serve supporters with exclusive content, by posting quick updates about current and upcoming projects. For those with an eagle eye, you'll notice that the interface looks quite familiar and could be Patreon's way of adding a feature similar to Instagram Stories to its own platform.

Despite this, it will surely become a helpful tool for those that wish to engage their supporters in a more laid-back fashion. The new update is available for iOS and Android.
