Samsung opens pre-orders on May 1 for 128GB and 256GB models of Galaxy S9 handsets

Samsung's Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ made their debuts back in March. Both models offered only 64GB of internal storage. The firm is now going to make larger versions of both handsets available to those in the United States, with 128GB and 256GB models set to be released in May.

If you were patient enough to hold out, those interested will be able to start pre-ordering the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage starting on May 1. The handset will only be available from Samsung's website. If you aren't keen on pre-ordering, you can head to the website on May 18 to make your purchase. The smartphones will come in three colors: Midnight Black, Coral Blue, or Lilac Purple.

As far as cost goes, you're looking at $769.99 for the 128GB version and $819.99 for the 256GB variant of the Galaxy S9. Those interested in the Galaxy S9+ will be shelling out $889.99 for the 128GB version and $939.99 for the 256GB model. As an added incentive, those that purchase the handset will be gifted a free Gear IconX or can receive a discount on the Gear S3, coming in at $99.
