Huawei hasn't had the best couple of years, despite the company's global shipments surpassing 100 million units. Now there is more trouble on the horizon, as some of its devices are now being blacklisted by VideoLAN.
VideoLAN is best known for its popular media player VLC. While it has not disclosed which devices are affected, the firm has stated that it is not for all devices, just for recent ones. Apparently, the reason for this blacklist is because of Huawei's aggressive background app killing policy that is meant to improve battery life but, in turn, breaks VLC audio playback in the background.
If you use a Huawei handset that is affected and still want to download the app, you can do so from VideoLAN's website. It is unknown whether Huawei will make changes to its background app killing to allow for exclusions or if it will continue on its path. But hey, on a bright note, you can now pick up Huawei's Mate 10 Pro for $300 off on Amazon.
